As part of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago’s campaign to
raise awareness about torture and its practices throughout the world, we would

While our attention concerning issues of torture has been focused
abroad, the city of Chicago has been victim to police brutality against its own
citizens, leading to false confessions and imprisonment of countless Chicago
residents; mainly poor African-American men. Leading this system of torture was
Commander Jon Burge who is now facing accountability to his crimes committed

citizens on the realities of torture and hopes to educate participants what can
be done to stop torture from continuing to be practiced throughout the world.

Law Center. This talk on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. will also be open to

Peacock, Vice Moderator of the General Assembly and Associate Pastor of
