COUNCIL CONDEMNS VIOLENCE AGAINST CHURCHES, NUN
9/19/2006 - The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago unequivocally condemns the recent attacks on churches in the West Bank and the murder of a nun in Somalia.

Those responsible for such actions are committing not only a criminal act but a major sin according to Islam. Mr. Abdul Malik Mujahid, Chairman of the Council, reminds all that the Quran asks Muslims to respond with behavior that is better than what they receive. Such unconscionable reactions are the antithesis of Islam�s calling and or the teachings of its Prophet. �Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, would be horrified and deeply pained in seeing the behavior of these few whose actions are committed by those claiming to follow him and his faith,� said Mujahid.
